Finnish-Cuban Friendship Association

Finnish-Cuban Association was founded in 1963 to promote friendship and cooperation between the people of Cuba and Finland and to make known Cuban culture and society in Finland. For over thirty years the association has co-operated with Cubans in various development projects: Cuban National Library, vocational school for carpentry, centers for disabled children, etc. There are also local branches of the association across Finland.
The association publishes quarterly Cuba Si, a member magazine that focuses on Cuba and the association. A special edition of the magazine deals with current issues in Cuba: travel, science, culture, social security, etc. The new and popular website kuuba.org provides latest news about Cuba.

Join the Work Brigade!

Twice a year, the association sends in co-operation with similar associations in the Nordic countries and Western Europe a work and solidarity brigade to Cuba. The brigade last three to four weeks and comprises 200 'brigadists' who work part-time on farms and construction sites. The Finnish contingent is usually between five and twenty members. This is the ideal opportunity to experience Cuba on the spot and to learn more about Cuba 's history and cultural life.

Studying Spanish in Cuba and Finland

A variety of Spanish courses are offered in Finland . All course teachers are native Spanish speakers and the courses are held in the association's spaces. There is an intensive course in Spanish and Ibero-American culture each summer.

Cuban rhythms and fiestas!

The association offers information about Cuban dance courses and organizes the annual Cuba Party in Helsinki.

Discussion events

Finnish-Cuban Association organises discussion events on actual themes of Cuban culture and society. Events are open for all!
